United Soccer Leagues announced today the U15 Boys and Girls All-Tournament Teams following the 10th Annual North American Finals, held November 21 through November 25 in Tampa, Florida. Northern Virginia Royals goalkeeper Adrian Acosta was honored as one of sixteen players in North America earning accolades.
Selections were based off the nominations of opposing coaches made throughout tournament play.
Acosta garnered recognition for his stellar play in the final game of group play, securing a 1-0 shutout against tournament favorite Juventus SC and sending Northern Virginia into the semifinals. Despite a 1-0 semifinal loss to eventual tournament winner West Coast FC, Acosta was equally up to the challenge the following day, making fingertip saves in the closing minutes to keep the Royals’ hopes alive.
Acosta shared time with three other goalkeepers on the U15 Royals throughout the Y-League season.
