As a lead into her first venture into the world of journalism, USLsoccer.com recently asked the talented striker a few questions regarding her time in the Super Y-League.
USLsoccer.com: How have you been playing in the SYL with the Majestics?
Meghan Cox: I have been playing three years with the Majestics.
USLsoccer.com: How did your SYL season go?
Meghan Cox: SYL season was amazing. We played our hearts out and made it to the SYL North American Finals. I was selected to the "All Tournament Team" as a result of my play in the tournament. The SYL has had a huge impact on my growth and progress as a soccer player. Not only playing SYL but also my SYL/regular season coach of five years, Marie Schweitzer. She has had a huge part in my development as a player and my understanding of the game. The competitive nature of the league and the competition is phenomenal.
USLsoccer.com: How did you learn about the photo competition?
Meghan Cox: The photo contest was posted on the Washington Area Girls League website and my mom saw it and recommended my dad enter some photos.
USLsoccer.com: If you had a choice, which match would you have chosen to attend?
Meghan Cox: It would have to be England vs. USA.
USLsoccer.com: What position do you play?
Meghan Cox: I have been predominately a forward. However, with my new regular season team, I have been playing defender. I will play anywhere on the field, including goalie.
USLsoccer.com: What is your favorite part of playing soccer?
Meghan Cox: My favorite part of soccer is not about winning, scoring or socializing. It is about learning the game, progressing as a player and as a team and fighting until the end, whether winning or losing.
