United Soccer Leagues released today the U13 Boys All-Tournament Team following the 11th Annual Super Y-League North American Finals, hosted at Ed Radice Soccer Complex in northwest Tampa, Florida from Friday, November 20-24. Northern Virginia Royal Justin Vargas and NOVA FC player Andrew Ferman earned recognition on the elite list for their performance over the five-day tournament.

Midfielder Vargas and forward Ferman each garnered four votes in the SYL scouting process, signifying top performance in each of their respective tournament matches. Nominations came primarily from the coaches of opposing teams during the continental championship matches.

West Pines United won the U13 Boys Championship, 5-4 in overtime over Ironbound SC.

The champions had Bebeto Bernard and Bryan Gonzalez named to the All-Tournament Team. Bernard scored a goal in the final while Gonzalez had an assist. Bernard was one of four players in the tournament to be picked out by opposing coaches four times. Gonzalez earned two votes, both when it mattered most, in the semifinal and final. He netted a hat-trick in his team’s 3-0 win over PDA in the tournament semifinal.

Ironbound outscored their opponent 16-4 through group play before meeting Mountain WFC in the semifinal. Kazari Trought and Travis Nitti scored in that match to prevail, 2-1. Trought did not play in the final but Nitti netted his second goal in as many days. Leading the way for Ironbound was Gareth Esteves, who played the game of his life, assisting on three goals in the final. Chris Salazar received the second-most votes from the coaches. He also scored a goal in the final.

Mountain WFC was 2-0-1 through group play, beating Fort Wayne, 4-0 on opening day. The team followed that win up with a 2-0 victory over Florida Soccer Alliance before drawing the New Jersey Junior Stallions, 1-1 on the third day. Mountain’s top-ranked player was Matthew Chow, who tied New Hampshire’s Thomas Erickson for the most votes earned by a defender with three. Mountain WFC allowed only three goals in four games at the North American Finals.

PDA rolled through group play, going 3-0-0 and outscoring the competition 12-1 before meeting West Pines United in the semifinal. Midfielder Matthew Kerr and forward Michael Moshier were named to the All-Tournament Team. The duo combined for eight goals.
