United Soccer Leagues announced Friday the prestigious W-League All-Conference Teams as voted on by team coaches and general managers, honoring 33 of the league’s top players for their play in the 2007 season. Northern Virginia Majestic Ashley Banks (West Virginia University) was named to the eleven-member Eastern All-Conference team for her outstanding play in helping the Majestics reach the playoffs for the second year in a row.
Banks, a four year veteran of the Majestics, finished the 2007 season ranked ninth overall in total points for the 34 team W-League. Primarily playing in the Northern Virginia midfield position, Banks scored eight goals and six assists in thirteen games played for a total of twenty-two points. Additionally, Banks scored the Majestics lone goal in post-season play against Jersey Sky Blue.
Twenty teams were represented by the 33 players selected to the three Central, Eastern and Western All-Conference Teams. The Atlanta Silverbacks, Jersey Sky Blue, San Diego Sunwaves and Vancouver Whitecaps had three players honored on the All-Conference Teams while the Richmond Kickers Destiny, Charlotte Lady Eagles, Washington Freedom, Toronto Lady Lynx and Seattle Sounders had two.
USL will announce the All-League Team on Monday, July 30.
