James Madison University Five Sign with Majestics Three New Players Join Northern Virginia Returnees Germain and Bowers
The Northern Virginia Majestics announced today the signing of five James Madison University players to the 2008 side. Cate Tisinger, Caitlin Walko and Teri Maykoski join returning Majestic veterans Lindsay Bowers and All-American Kimmy Germain on this summer’s roster.
Germain enters into her third year with the Majestics, returning to an increasingly solid Northern Virginia midfield. Germain is also a three-year starter in the JMU midfield and completed her junior year tied seventh on Dukes career assist leader board with 18. Her crowning achievement last season was being named to the NCSAA All-American third team.
The Majestics led the W-League in 2007 All-Americans with four Northern Virginia players earning selection to the prestigious list.
Bowers rejoins the Majestics for another season after playing both forward and midfield for James Madison the previous collegiate season. The Burke, VA. native earned All-State and All-Regional honors while still in high school, and starred on the BRYC Aurora club team that finished National Champion runners-up twice with Bowers.
Tisinger (Clifton, VA.) brings yet another attacking threat to a dangerous Northern Virginia offense. The freshman forward led the Dukes in points (28) and was second in goals (9) and assists (10). She ranked second in the Colonial Athletic Association in assists, third in points and sixth in goals. Tisinger was the 2007 CAA Rookie of the Year.
Majestics Add Maryland Quartet Terrapin Signees Bolster Northern Virginia Side
The Northern Virginia Majestics announced today the additions of four University of Maryland standouts to the 2008 roster. Natalie Arias, Yewande Balogun, Brittany Cummins, and Megan Watson will represent the Maryland Terrapins on the pitch for Northern Virginia this summer.
Arias, a two-time NSCAA All-American, dominated the Maryland midfield throughout her freshman and sophomore seasons. She was named to the All Mid-Atlantic Freshman Team (SoccerBuzz) and ACC All-Freshman Team in 2004. Following a red-shirted 2006 season due to knee surgery, Arias returned in 2007 to take control of the Terrapin side, scoring 5 goals for the Maryland women. Hailing from Alexandria, Va., Arias was twice named NSCAA Virginia State Player of the Year.
Balogun, a native of Bowie, Md., started 15 games as goalkeeper during the 2007 Maryland season before suffering a foot injury. Balogun finished the season with 0.84 goals against average, and earned 62 season saves and 5 shutouts. A two-time NSCAA Youth All-American, Balogun was a member of the US women’s national team pool from U14 through U17 levels.

Majestics Acquire Two Forwards Katie Watson and Tara Kidwell Sign with Northern Virginia
The Northern Virginia Majestics eagerly announced today the additions of Katie Watson and Tara Kidwell to the 2008 roster. The local duo is expected to pose a daunting threat this summer, enhancing an already solid Northern Virginia front line.
Watson (Woodbridge, VA), a local product from Potomac High School, is a standout for the Old Dominion University Lady Monarchs. After transferring from Marshall University, Watson fronted a potent ODU attack and led the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in scoring with 13 goals and 7 assists. She finished her junior year by being named to both the First Team All-CAA and Second Team All-Region by NSCAA/Adidas.
Kidwell (Leesburg, VA) brings to the Majestics experience at both forward and the midfield. A 2004 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Kidwell finished second on the UAB Blazer’s all-time goal-scoring list with 24 career goals. Her collegiate accolades include First Team Southeast Region (NSCAA) and Second Team All-Region (Soccer Buzz) honors.
